where we are

Well, the end of another week and by now you ought to have a good idea of not only what we are studying but the way that we will be studying it over the coming months.

For Monday you must have completed your media consumption diary which should be for the past 7 days.  You will be using this data in the lesson so be certain that you bring both it and your folders to the lesson.

Mr Wallbanks group [12BMS2] are in the OLC Monday and have work to be doing there based on researching into company logos and media branding.  This will be the first research task for all of you for next week's home study and details of what is required of you and how you will provide evidence of what you have been doing will be posted for Monday.

Virtually all of you now have fully functioning blogs and these will now be used as a key element in supporting your work and in our ability to assess your work.  Remember it is an expectation of all students on this course to check your blog at least every other day and this home blog too - of course, every day would be the ideal.

Coursework Support Materials

Today we have published the AQA Coursework Briefs [MEST2] for examination in 2014.

You must asap :

[1]  Read through the briefs and ensure that you understand what is being asked of you [there will be a taught support lesson Thursday for 12BMS2 and 12CMS1 and Friday for 12BMS1 to answer any questions and offer some additional guidance and show some exemplar materials from previous years].
[2]  You need to select ONE BRIEF that appeals to you
[3]  Decide which TWO platforms [film/print/emedia] that you will be working on.]
[4]  You will then spend the following weeks researching texts and issues linked to those tasks and to those kind of media products [again, more support materials will follow to assist you]

IMPORTANT:

The support material produced by AQA for the Coursework for 2014 is now published as a separate tab on the blog.  Be certain to read through the sections relevant to your brief

Any issues please speak to myself or Mr Wallbank in the sesssons next week

AQA Media Studies Coursework Briefs for 2014 Examination

Dear all

It's early closure this afternoon for the open evening and so a good [last] chance for those of you who have not yet created / notified me of the address of your blog to do so and I can use the time to complete the final student blog list links to the right of this site.

In the lessons Thursday 12CMS1 and 12BMS2 and Friday 12BMS1 I will be introducing the coursework briefs which will be posted on this blog by the weekend.
This blog will be the main source of communication for us especially with issues surrounding the coursework which you will be beginning the research for this week so it is vital that this is completed today.  No excuses!

Dear all

hope it's going well for you this week and that the media sessions have given you some appetite for what's to come.

the homework for the weekend of 7th-8th September is to create your blog and then to test with a post and then to email your blogspot address to either myself or Mr. Wallbank so that we can add you to the list on the home site.

thanks for those who have already done so - it's helped us see that it works ok and enabled others to 'get it' much more quickly.

Also, remember to complete 2 media diary entries over the weekend

12B we will be 'splitting' the group for the sessions next week so all report to T8 monday where we will sort you all out

peace

Purpose of the blog

From September 2013 after completion of the lessons, the outline details and notes of the media lessons and associated materials will be published as part of this blog by media staff.

All Media students will be expected to access this blog on a daily basis particularly when staff are absent or in the event of the unexpected cancellation of lessons as this will be the main portal for setting work and details of assessments.
